This book was born out of my concern about the never-ending issue of waste. Waste management is not solely a matter of infrastructure, but also involves behaviour and mindset. There are still residents who carelessly dispose of waste, evidenced by the litter scattered along roadsides, vacant lots, and under bridges.
The education sector needs to play a role in correcting the mindset and behaviour of the community regarding waste management. Essentially, the waste generated by each person is their own responsibility, not merely the responsibility of sanitation workers, waste collectors, waste bank managers, or the environmental agency.
My idea to create a children's activity book that includes education about types of waste and features writings by children from my literacy class was met with enthusiasm. The extraordinary leader, Mrs Asih Hidayatun, S.Ag, Principal of Budi Mulia Muhammadiyah Elementary School Adiwerna, supported it.
