Globalization is a prominent term that dominates the lexicon of modern society. Often relegated to a mere buzzword, globalization is commonly perceived as representing intrusive external influences or the advancements in information technology. However, it wields a profound and imperceptible impact on life, both in daily routines and within broader contexts.
Fundamentally altering how individuals behave, plan, and perceive their world, globalization significantly influences most, if not all, facets of human existence, including institutional entities such as states and international relations. The definition of globalization remains a subject of debate. However, it is generally characterized by an increased level of connectivity and shared awareness. Globalization is thus more useful as an abstract social phenomenon, examined through various lenses to attain as objective a perspective as possible (Robertson & White, 2007: 18).
